For those hikers and bushcrafters seeking an alternative to lying on the floor, this is a great value hammock which offers many advantages over the well known Hennesey Hammock often seen hanging about.

The standard HH is ideal for people less than 5' 10", and the nature of the entry/exit means it is impossible to reach out and get something from your rucksack without most of the hammock contents spilling out. Secondly if you require some kind of insulation beneath you, there is a tendency for it to slide away from where you want it, giving you a very disturbed night. I know I've tried it!

This hammock is slightly better thought out. Firstly it takes my 6' 2" frame easily and the double layer compartment beneath the hammock allows a thermarest, foam mat or quilt to be slid into place and forgotten about. The double zip access point on the side of the hammock allows you to get in and reach out for any items you may wish without losing anything. The fine mesh upper layer has two sets of 5 loops at each end and this gives you many options for tying the material away from your face with the supplied shock cord either by using a simple knot or small twig (as show in the picture above under the backpackinglight Duo Tarp).

It doesn't come with a tarp, however this does give you the option to select one which suits your needs, lightweight or heavy duty and give you maximum coverage. Finally if there are no trees available, the hammock can be laid on the ground and treated like a single person 'nest' under a tarp. New waterproof base! Best of both worlds!

Although it does come with plenty of webbing to tie the hammock up, I have exchanged the cord through the loops at each end, with karabiners and these simply clip onto climbing webbing straps for ultra quick erection!

This model of the very popular Travel Hammock which has the ultra fine mosquito netting that keeps out ALL insect, including the dreaded British midge! Now with 2 double sided zippers for easy access, stronger webbing (rope), a waterproof base for use as a floor nest and velcro sleeping pad closure.

The hammock has two layers of nylon (which allows a thermarest or quilt to be inserted for insulation in cold weather).

Comes with 10m of webbing (rope) attached and two 2m lengths of shock cord to support the mosquito net. Size when packed approx 30cm x 15cm.

Suitable for those up to 6' 5" tall. .Max. weight 125kg

These new features make this hammock unique and ideal for use around the world, in both hot and cold climates. And at a fantastic price too!

Weight: 950g

Again faultless service delivered on time and the hammock it self well how easy was that to set up. Iv never set a hammock before but this was straight out the bag and on the tree. I was in it swinging around in under 5 mins once I'd selected my 2 trees. Brilliant loved it. Will 100 % use this company again. You won't be dissapointed.

I was given the DD Travel Hammock as a birthday. Initially dubious as age is beginning to take it's toll.
I do light weight camping on a regular basis, Scouts/DofE, and am expert with my little tent.
However, this hammock is a revelation. Very little bending down to pitch it and instead of crawling on hands and knees through the wet grass to get in, I can just walk under the tarp (DD 3x3m), sit down as if into an armchair then swing my legs in once I've removed my boots. So civilized!
Good nights sleep. More comfortable than on the ground, fewer complaints from my back in the morning, warm enough with just a sleeping bag but I've not tried seriously cold weather yet, suspect additional insulation will then be needed underneath. Should be simple with the double layered base.
I intend experimenting with the suspension system to allow greater reach, flexibility and drip rings. Having said that after continuous light overnight rain there was no noticeable water ingress.
All I need from now on is a pair of suitable trees, which weren't as easy to find as I expected. They need to be within range of distance apart, of suitable size, nothing hazardous above and, the difficult bit, in the correct orientation to the prevailing wind. You don't want wind and rain blowing in the open end of the tarp.

Materials appear to be of good quality and service from Back Packing Light excellent.

Camping in Norway

Very good product, never used a hammock before but thought it would be a good idea for canoeing in Norway as there are plenty of trees and the ground is very rocky. The hammock is easy to hang especially as I added a pair of "tree huggers" which to the uninitiated are climbing slings and karabiners and a pair of prusik rings on each end for quick easy adjustment, both amendments following the viewing of various you-tube videos. The hammock is supremely comfortable and will be my sleeping system of choice whenever possible, the midge net works and is not claustrophobic, A couple of observations/criticisms. The weight precludes its use for lightweight backpacking and I had problems with my thermarest slipping around when used in-between the two nylon bases. I haven't tried it pitched on the ground yet. All round a magnificent bit of kit.
