The newest UCO lantern is also our smallest ever.

The Micro Lantern is a tealight lantern that also collapses for compact storage just like the Original Candle Lantern. It's perfect for taking along in your backpack as it compacts down to 2.5 inches in height.

When you take apart the Micro Lantern to replace the candle, you will find one of its most innovative features—hidden in the base is space to store a second tealight candle. This allows you to carry enough tealights for 6-8 hours of light.

The Micro Lantern is made with the same high quality as our UCO other candle lanterns, it just happens to be a little lantern with a lot of light!

The Micro Lantern: A little lantern with a lot of light!

Shining light!!!
Monday, 29 August 2016  |

My reasons for buying this were varied....I like the traditional approach, whilst not ignoring modern technology.
I wanted a lightweight item.
I didn't want to rely on batteries or specific fuels.
It needs to be compact for backpacking
This ticks most of the boxes for me......
The packaging is secure and well designed if a little awkward to release.
The ability to collapse is great, providing protection for the glass lense.
It seems resilient against winds and gives a surprising amount of light when used outside.
Moving to inside the tent, the hanging chain is the perfect length to prevent heat damage to the fabric.
On a rainy night, this heat seemed to prevent condensation inside my tent as well as provide light.
The only reason this doesn't get 5 from me is I found it a little bit flimsy when extending/collapsing, but this hasn't caused any issues and is an effect of its lightweight construction.
Would I buy again? Yes, absolutely!

Pretty good, but not perfect

This is a clever design and does the job well. It feels a bit flimsy and the use of glass doesn't seem ideal. I suppose if it was uber well made it would cost a great deal more. I'd buy it again, but ther4s room for improvement.

Very effective
Wednesday, 12 August 2015  |

This is a surprisingly bright lantern, weighs hardly anything and is really compact. I've been using the UCO candle lantern for years, and the micro candle lantern is very nearly as bright as the candle lantern - I've hardly noticed the difference. The candle lantern reflector works with the micro candle lantern, but is probably more useful: because the glass element on the micro lantern is a bit shorter than the glass on the candle lantern it is possible to tilt the reflector and direct the light. because the light from the lantern is pretty bright, tilting the reflector also stops a bit of 'dazzle' if the lantern is at eye-level. I'm really chuffed with the micro lantern - as it uses tealights getting replacement candles will be a doddle.

Going lighter
Monday, 9 February 2015  |

Trying to lighten my pannier weight and I do like to have a citronella candle burning in an effort to keep the midges at bay. A little lighter and a fair bit smaller than the mini lantern which helps.

awesome piece of kit and amazing price
Monday, 29 September 2014  |

Absolutely love this lantern. Does exactly as it should for its size but with a reflector its even better (I made my own) backpacking light was the cheapest and the service is fantastic, delivery fast and after sales service goes beyond call of duty. Thanks backpacking I'll be back for more kit in the future.

Great little light
Thursday, 18 September 2014  |

A lovely little candle light, well packaged and delivered really quickly. Even got a phone call a couple of days later to check if I was happy - excellent customer service. As for the lantern, it is very compact and throws out a reasonable light considering it just uses a tea light.

Cracking little lamp
Monday, 18 November 2013  |

Arrived within 48hrs of ordering. Used in anger whilst camping in a wood on a dark night. Very pleased with the illumination.
Dont expect 'gas light' brightness. It'll give you enough light and cook eat. I used it hung on a tree branch to mark my tent. Superb.

Warm cosy light !
Friday, 3 May 2013  |

I used to have the UCO candle lantern but in spite of its obvious clever design I found many things wrong with it, mainly the reliance on a particular kind of candle, it often got clogged up with wax and then the ingenious "spring" didn't work! I changed to this liitle lantern and have been delighted with it - it takes ( though not recommended ) regular tea-lights & it's surprisingly bright - like another reviewer I lay with my head out my tent door with my lantern on a rock behind me and happily read my book & cos of its low base its not a worry that its going to tip or fall over. It's also really cute! The only cons are that you have to try and get the clip that holds the candle to sit well - but usually it works ok with a bit of fiddling.
