Remember no matter which sleeping bag you choose they will be cold until heated up by a person, so you need to feel warm before you get in! The insulation in the bag then works to prevent heat loss through convection.
The tip is to get in when you feel naturally warm and not sweaty warm, as the moisture you release will induce cooling until you settle correctly.
This is helped if you have had a hot meal, wear a base layer, hat, thin gloves and socks if cold and that the sleeping bag is dry and insulated underneath with a sleeping mat.
The best way to store your sleeping bag is not in the ultra tight stuff sack it came with, but hung up or stored in a large cotton sack. The life of the sack is enhanced if it is stored uncompressed. Otherwise the down loses its 'loft' and then fails to trap air which keeps you warm.
Always carefully follow instructions for your bags cleaning when the time comes (sleeping bag liners help the bag stay cleaner longer) Dry Cleaning is not generally recommended and specialist cleaners need to be sought if you are unable to tackle the job yourself.
