Malvern Walking FestivalThe 2008 Walking Festival coincides with the 3rd year of the Malvern In Bloom competition where Malvern will be putting in a lot of effort to retain the crown it won in 2006. 2007 was the 150th anniversary year of the birth of Edward Elgar, so this is a good opportunity to walk to paths that Elgar walked and understand why he became so inspired. |
The list of walks will, as usual, include a wide range of walks to satisfy most tastes from the timid beginner to the more experienced walker. Walks will range from family walks to a walk across the Malvern Hills from End to End. For the very serious walker there is a three day walk along the Worcestershire Way to be concluded on the fourth day with an extra walk to the town of Ledbury.

It is taking place on the 13th September this year and the walk will take place in Glenmore, in the beautiful Cairngorms. The walk will be a 16 km circular forest walk. |

Long Distance Walkers Association
Ever considered joining the Long Distance Walkers Association? Aim: to further the interests of those who enjoy long distance walking Since its formation in 1972 (founders Chris Steer and Alan Blatchford)
the LDWA has grown steadily from 355 members to 6,500 (approx.) at
present. That growth, recognition in 1985 as the Governing Body for
Long Distance Walking and becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee in
1999 have not prevented the LDWA retaining the feeling of a family of
diverse individuals united by a common interest in long distance
walking.

The Backpackers Club
The Backpackers Club is for anybody who enjoys lightweight camping. The aim of the club is to promote and encourage backpacking for the benefit of its members. No formal definition of 'Backpacking' exists, but perhaps a good description would be the art of being self contained, carrying everything you need to survive in the outdoors such as a tent, sleeping bag and food etc. whilst walking/cycling from one location to another on a multi-day journey through a natural landscape.
