Hi, many thanks for the raid running gaiters. Really impressed with your all round service, from the follow up telephone call, handwritten note with order, podcast cd-rom and cream eggs!! New long term customer for sure. Thanks a lot. Lee
I just wanted to compliment you on the brilliant service you provided me with recently. I bought a titanium spork from you and not only were there regular updates on the progress of my order, but a handwritten note and a free bottle opener inside the parcel when it arrived. The service really was outstanding and if I need any more of your equipment I will be sure to use your website. Thanks again, Alex
I'm really impressed with the service! A few days after receiving my pack and trousers I got a follow-up call from the team to check I had my gear and was happy with it. One minor fault was mentioned with the trousers - I was unsure where I stood with this, as I'd already trimmed the waist-belt. Rose insisted I could send them back for free replacement...
The website's well put-together, and shows the keen interest in the outdoors this team has. The site's full of innovative little thingummies which - above and beyond their practical value - demonstrate that these are people who not only 'do it' but also want to make it better for everyone else! Best shop I've used on the 'net, full stop. Luke
Can't say how impressed I am by both the website and service provided - slightly worried, actually, as I can see a whole lot more stuff I will 'need' to buy without really trying. But that is what is so good - quality gear and great advice. As an ultralight 'newbie' I really appreciate the direct contact with the supplier - recently emailed Bob with a query about an alcohol stove, and was able to have the view from the guy who had actually built it within 24 hours. Priceless, and will definitely keep me coming back for more. Oh yes, and love the podcasts - particularly Ben Corr and his PCT preparations. My wife now lives in fear of the rainskirt ! Chris
As usual unbelievable service from the backpackinglight team! This is the 3rd time I have purchased from this website and I am gobsmacked at the efficiency and helpfullness from the staff here. Other businesses should take serious note! I placed an order yesterday after 16:00, I recieved a phone call from Rose about the availability of an item soon after, and yet still recieved my order first thing this morning!
An absolute pleasure doing business with you! Thanks Sandy.
Dear Bob and Rose,
Why does your website have to be so great? Just when I think I have seen everything, I find more stuff to buy or more information to look at! Having spent a small fortune in online with you recently I can heartily recommend your customer service and speed of order processing. Also I find the selection of products spot on. Not trash, just all really useful items.
Thanks very much and keep up the good work, Dave
I've been listening to the great podcasts for about a year now and they, amongst other things, have inspired me to get out and do some wild camps and turn my walking into backpacking.
Now of course I need the gear and what a great place to start. Just placed a small order, with others to follow in the future probably. Hoping to do the TGO in 2009 once I have built up my skills enough. Keep up the great work Bob and Rose!! Cheers Stuart
I'm always happy to shop at backpackinglight.co.uk. The service is excellent, and I have come to trust, without question, all of the product information and equipment on offer at the site. This is more than I can say about most other internet companies. I really feel that the products are handpicked for their quality, and the prices are great. The additional phone call to make sure products have arrived safely is so nice, and it is always a pleasure to hear Rose's voice. Backpackinglight.co.uk is my first choice site for all backpacking requirements. Iain
Contrary to Mr. Steve Sergeant's opinion, I rather enjoy a longer interview. In fact, the longer the better. It strikes me much the same as the difference between a walk around the block and a long distance hike. I'm just hoping you don't take his advice that "shorter is better". If he chooses to edit his shows down to mere sound-bites, that's his choice. I took offense to his attitude that his way was the only correct way, and anything else was just completely wrong. Possibly I misread him though. I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts and look forward to many more. Like many from the States, I just can't get enough of that wonderful accent. Best of luck John
Love the podcasts Bob! I've been listening to the Challenge Diaries on my daily walks the last week or so. great mix of what you and Rose are doing, and the interviews with everyone else along the way. Also really enjoyed the '...how long is long' interview with Chris Townsend. That one changed the way I look at the landscapes I wander around in. Keep up the good work! cheers Paul
Hi there - just wanted to say how good I thought your service was - next day delivery to the Outer Hebrides! I will certainly be ordering from you again. Thanks Rhod
Hiya Bob/Rose just reply to your courtesy call regarding the the e+lite, got it and i'm really pleased also recieved my second order today, thermarest and the zip lock bags and waterproof first aid kit thanks for the fast turn round and the jelly babies didn't get a look in the kids got to them before me!!! :( keep up the good work with the podcasts they're great thanks again. Ste
I placed an online order late yesterday afternoon for a few small items and the despite you apparently having a few problems with receiving/processing internet orders yesterday, my order arrived first thing this morning!!
Absolutely first-class service and restored some of my faith in the way business is conducted these days.
I will definetely use your site again and will recommend it to others! Kind regards, Barry Kimber
I love the podcasts! They are very informative, funny, and professionally done. The series of TGO diaries is brilliant. I almost feel as if I'm walking along with you. (Except for the fact that I'm sitting in a comfortable chair with a glass of Dalwhinnie or Oban in my hand.) Thanks again for your hard work in putting together these great podcasts. Joe
I love the Podcasts, especially Mike Harding and Cameron McNeish. Seriously attempting to attain self-realisation in the great outdoors makes a worthwhile change from the traditional tough-guy approach to backpacking.
Incidentally, apropos single skin tents, I'm still using my Phoenix Phreerunner Goretex which I've had for many years as I do very little backpacking. I've always found it trouble free. I wonder why we don't get more of this type of shelter? Cheers, Des
Excellent site, and your Customer Service is second to none - my partner has already purchased a number of items from you! Keep up the great work! Paul C
Greetings from Nebraska in the United States of America! I found your site via a Google search for podcasts covering the topic of backpacking. After listening to nearly 47 of your podcasts, yes I am hooked, I described your podcasts as the "Jackpot" to my group of friends who share my interest in backpacking and podcasting.
I have learned a lot by listening to the very informative podcasts and I just want to say 'Job well done!' After listening to several of your guests speak about lightweight backpacking I went through my pack and reduced it's weight by 33 pounds! I just returned from a two day hike for which I had two goals. The first of which was to "minimize weight and maximize fun" and the second was to convince my friends that reducing pack weight works! I achieved both goals and my friends could not believe I got along just fine and with my pack weighing in at less than half the weight as theirs!
You have introduced me to the benefits of going light and for that I am grateful! Thank you for you podcasts. I look forward to many more. May God bless you and your company. Sincerely, Todd Gilkison
Thank you for my recent order of sub zero base layer tops which arrived promptly. I wore the Factor One at the weekend doing some hill climbing & treking in my Scottish Mountain backyard (how lucky am i) . Bright skies, but Cold with windchill factors below zero. Top worked great and kept me comfortably dry. Thanks for the advice on website in choosing gear. Will order more in future and recommend to friends. Regards Steven Foster
This is getting serious, I am becoming afflicted with ideas of Lightweight. Cameron McNeish is not helping matters with his articles in TGO. Now he is talking about French lighweight sleeping bags and a tempting rucksack, the Mcsac. You stock some of the OMM sacs but not that one. I must book another session with my therapist???!!! Brenda Dawn
Thanks for the excellent interview series – it serves as an amazing source of inspiration to me. I listen to shows not just when out when pounding the pavements during the long damp winter nights, but also during long commutes for work.
It’s invaluable during that otherwise “wasted training” time sat in my car. At least I feel as though I am getting some training done; even though it is mental.
We are currently training for the Polar Challenge; a 340 mile ski race to the Magnetic North Pole. Stages of this will be mind-numbingly monotonous, so we will be taking mp3 players to keep us stimulated – you can bet that several of your interviews will be on there to keep the motivation going.
As soon as we’ve finished this we will be back in training for the LAMM. Keep up the great work and thanks again. Ian Wilson
I'd firstly like to say a big Thank You for your excellent service - this is the first time (ever) that I've had a phone call for an order change, a hand written note enclosed with my order, and a post-despatch follow-up call. It tells me a lot about your commitment and interest in your customers, and the business as a whole, and I won't hesitate to recommend you whole-heartedly.. David Marshall

Just to say how much I'm enjoying your TGO challenge podcasts. I'm stuck in front of a 22" monitor in my home-office in Cambridgeshire aka Flatland, working on illustrations while listening to your experiences and learning, too. Our first overnighter (in the Torridon) was a great success despite the weather, and we're planning the West Highland Way next May. And more walking, further north and west. Thank you, not only for the podcasts, but for the great gear! Sarah
Thank you very much for excellent customer service - somewhat of a rarity in the impersonal world of internet mail order. Order received quickly and followed by a courtesy call. Very professional. Simon
Ordered on Monday, received on Tuesday; what excellent service is that? PLUS sweeties :D Brilliant! Will keep an eye on you, there is so much that is BOUND to be essential to my well being... Tina
Just a quick e-mail to say that I ordered a rucksack from you a few days ago, got it yesterday and was really pleased to get it so quickly and with a pack of jelly babies! Ate the jelly babies on Pen Yr Ole Wen, Snowdonia where they and the rucksack were very welcome. Thanks a lot for brilliant service. Will be recommending you to others. Debbie.
The podcasts have been brilliant, and have kept me going over the winter months. The power of the imagination mixed with the spoken word is fantastic. And I love the "lads trips out" playing with the new fire and stuff! Your trip with Andy is what convinced me to purchase a tarp. I will watch the Outdoor Station closely. Martin
I have just received some stuff I ordered from you on Sunday. As usual it arrived with a feedback card and a disk of podcasts Superb service... and the Triad stove is an amazing piece of kit. I am well on the wrong side of 35 - what you seem to think is an age beyond podcasts - but I can assure you that I have listened to most of your podcasts on my iPod and, after listening to your interview with Bob Butler, I thought it is time to say 'well done Bob' - I hope your new commercial venture goes well and keep on podding. Ian, Harrogate
Just found your site via Country Walking Magazine and I must say its BRILLIANT!! Thanks Sue
You provide the type of service that customers want - order one day, delivery the following day, a handwritten note with the goods and a follow up phone call. Brilliant. Highly recommended. Duncan
Great site! You look to be the beachhead in the UK for the ultralight invasion... Glen Van Peski
The podcasts are consistently excellent - entertaining, informative and easy to listen to due to the very relaxed and professional presentation style. Ewen Graham Podcasts are great, really liked the go-lite backpack comparisons and "going light" advice. Keep up the good work, Ian MacDougall I enjoyed the Ryan Jordan podcast, and I'm planning to listen to some of the other podcasts. Looking forward to hearing more about some of the clothing, equipment, and hikes from the UK. Tom Good luck with the web site. Ryan Jordan and Glen Van Peski amongst others have shown the way forward in the US. I hope you can find a way into the market in the UK. Regards Andy This is my first time on the site, I am very glad I found it. I have been searching for light weight kit and advice for a long time, no need to look any further. Stewart Holmes Just wanted to congratulate you on your website. At last a UK company aiming at the lightweight backpacker. Hope everything goes well for your family busines. I will certainly be looking through your site with interest. Scot Ashdown The podcasts are great. A lot of useful information and I personally like the ones with Chris Townsend and your collaboration one with Ryan Jordan the most. Best regards, Roman Ackl I am listening to your Podcasts over in in Richmond, BC., Canada. I thought I'd drop you a note saying I very much enjoy them. Interviewing people like Chris Townsend (A hero of mine), Ryan Jordan, and others has been very inspiring. It is also very refreshing to hear a UK prespective on lwt backpacking.
