Made with the same welded plastic laminate as Platypus bottles. Hosers are water reservoirs with a drinking tube assembly that will sit any way up in your pack or in the hydration sleeve if you have one. HOW DO I CLEAN MY PLATYPUS?
The easiest and fastest way is to use a sterilising fluid such as 'Miltons' available from any supermarket or chemist. (This is normally used for baby utensils) Mix it 2.5 litres of water to 5ml (half a capful) in a bowl. Submerge the Platypus and hose and ensure liquid gets into all the air caps. Leave submerged under an upturned plate for 15 mins, a quick rise and it is now clean! Or just make up the mix and pour it in and leave it!
HOW DO I BOIL MY PLATYPUS?
Do not microwave the Platypus. Place in a large pot and cover with water, keeping an eye on pressure building up in Platypus. Do not let the Platypus touch the metal or it will melt.
HOW DO I FREEZE MY PLATYPUS?
Lay half-full Platypus on its side in freezer. If used in a first aid situation wrap the frozen Platypus in a towel before laying against the skin.
MY BITE VALVE COMES OFF TOO EASILY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Pull off Bite Valve, cut 3cm off the tube, wet it with your lids and slide Bite Valve back on. There should now be a good seal.
HOW DO I PREVENT THE WATER IN MY DRINKING TUBE AND BITE VALVE FROM FREEZING IN COLD WEATHER?
The simplest way to prevent water freezing in the tube is the 'blow' it back into the main container. Water in an exposed tube will freeze very quickly, so this simple method keeps the liquid (hopefully) inside the hydration compartment.
HOME MADE BITE VALVE CAP IDEATake an old 35mm plastic film canister, drill a 10mm hole in the bottom, sllde the tube through it and put the cap on top. You'll never have to suck a muddy Bite Valve again! Easy!
