The idea of carrying a saw on your trips may seem odd, however I have had numerous times when I've picked up fallen wood for a bothy or beach fire which is just too thick to break, and much too like hard work for my humble penknife.I met several people recently hikers, kayakers and bushcrafters who were using these folding saws and I've now found several which meet our requirements. This is the smallest and lightest of our selection and most people will recognize that Opinel are renowned for their simple elegant design of functional no-nonsense tools. Designed to cut on the pull stroke the blade is under tension not compression as it cuts and can therefore use a thinner section of high carbon tool steel blade which provides less chance of risk of blade slip and injury. Although the teeth have no 'set' they are configured to clear out the debris as the saw cuts. Using the Opinel twist locking system, the blade can be locked open or closed for transportation. If you only have occasional need for such a tool, this is small enough and light enough not to trouble your overall pack weight. And a great idea if you are a gardener too! The handle is natural beech wood and gives a pleasing finish. The blade is 125mm in length measuring 280mm overall open, 160mm closed. It will easily cut wood up to 100mm in diameter. Blade non-replaceable. Weight: 110g Not for sale to persons under the age of 18. By placing an order for this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age or over.
