As a complete starter kit it is great value for money as a decent flint and steel can cost the same.
The Steel-of-Fire Fuel Tablets, by Web-Tex, are made from a highly flammable material called hexamine, and make lighting a fire with a flint and steel firestarter very, very easy. They are suitable for many outdoor activities when a flint and steel is being used.
It is not necessary to use a whole tablet to create a fire, just a few shavings will do. Two tablets is therefore enough to start many fires.
Once your kindling is alight, do NOT try to recover any piece remaining of the tablet and snuff it out with your fingers. It will carry on burning and burn you.
