Tough Repair Adhesive Seals Seams and Fixes Almost Everything

Seam Grip® by Gear Aid™ is a gear repair kit in a tube for non-silicone based fabrics. Use it as a tent seam sealer, sleeping pad fixer or equipment rebuilder. Works on all types of fabrics and surfaces, including neoprene, PVC, rubber, leather, vinyl and synthetics.

Seam Grip goes beyond patching holes. It waterproofs tent seams, improves traction and offers abrasion resistance too.

So take a tube of Seam Grip wherever you go, because you never know when gear will rip, leak or fall apart.

Seam Grip is amazing. It’s an award-winning repair adhesive that can keep your gear dry in any weather. It permanently seals the seams on your tent, pack and rainwear. It can repair rips, tears and holes in your gear, too. It’s your all-purpose liquid tool in a tube. Seam Grip is very easy to use, anyone can be a master of gear repair. Long considered the industry standard, Seam Grip was awarded the prestigious Editors’ Choice Gold Award from Backpacker Magazine in 2002.

Use Seam Grip to repair surfaces or seal seams of natural and synthetic fabrics, waterproof laminates, leather and vinyl. Seam Grip may be used to repair all types of waders and footwear, neoprene, PVC, rubber, and more. Concentrated and waterproof, Seam Grip offers excellent adhesion, long lasting flexibility, superior traction and abrasion resistance, with minimal shrinkage.

NB: For silicone based fabrics or silnylon use SilNet.

Reasons to use Seam Grip:

  • Seals the seams on tents, tarps, backpacks, rainwear
  • Permanently patches holes and repairs tears
  • Washable and unaffected by extreme cold or heat
  • One tube seals seams on an average 2-person backpacking tent
  • Can be used internally on groundsheets to create non-slip patterns or 'dots'. (Allow your tent to dry thoroughly before folding and storing.  If the seams seem tacky, you can add a little unscented talcum powder.)
  • Curing time 3-6 hours depending on temperature. Do not fold away your gear unless you are sure it is dry.

Application tips: If possible choose to seal your shelter on a warm day. Pull the material taught with the seal facing upwards and wipe down the area with cleaning alcohol and wait for it to dry. Mask area off with decorators masking tape for a neat finish. Warmth decreases the viscosity of Seam Grip and encourages a better flow and seal. If the weather is not on your side, place the tube of Seam Grip (sealed) in a bowl of warm water and heat the seam to be sealed with a hairdryer before applying it. Repeat as necessary.

NB: Before you start you may wish to purchase a few stiff small stipple brushes from a craft shop (the type children use), as once the Seam Grip starts to cure on the brush it becomes hard to apply sealant neatly.

functional and fantastic

I have been using this stuff a while now to repair all sorts of seams, waterproofs and apply non slip dots/coatings to things. It does what it says it does as a minimum. Happy to buy from R&R due to service, sweets and to support indie retailers.

I've not used this particular tube yet but think very highly of the glue. I shall use it to mend my DMs.
