| Compared the lightweight Montane Trailblazer 44 this is a more traditional designed pack in many ways however they both share the same adjustable back system, which is light and easy to calibrate for various back lengths within the family. The pack has the more traditional hipbelt design with pockets on the thick padded belt, but it does have an unusual 'baguette' pocket on each side. At first glance this might seem strange as the upper pocket is just a mesh tube, whereas the lower pocket is the more traditional stretch style. The idea being that if you have long items such as a rolled up tent or sleeping system, you can slot it through the tube into the lower pocket. If you use this kind of system for carrying your shelter, then that leaves loads of space inside the pack for a 2 or 3 day trip. The hydration slot (like the Trailblazer) is the full width of the pack and goes to the bottom which means a NeoAir or thin inflatable can slot down there nicely should you wish. There is also the velcro tab at the top of the pack to hold the hydration bladder in place. With a top lid and the usual pockets, this pack fulfils most weekend walkers or short trip hikers nicely. The weight isn't too bad and should you wish to remove the central metal stay for whatever reason it slips out easily. A general all round excellent pack for small and long trips. Plus DoE for the smaller person who needs to carry less. --------- This is what the manufacturers say ..... Built for multi-day mountain assaults, the Halogen 45 has versatility at its core. The ample feature set includes light and tough RAPTOR fabrics combined with the latest ZephyrAD adjustable back system for supreme tailored comfort and load stability on the move. Specifications
