The Pocket Rocket has always been a very popular stove. Great power output for very little weight. A good spread of fins for support and reliable build.

If there were any negatives, it would be that the fins when folded were a little on the long side and of course no ignition system.

However, this new Micro Rocket model addresses this and adds new features to make it even more popular.

Folding fins, so it'll pack down inside Mugs and small pots. Brilliant!

Less weight. Great!

Included a separate Piezo ignition unit. Fantastic.

That's it, a neat tidy lightweight 75g stove, which is supplied in a tough plastic case should you need it.

MSR Micro Rocket
Saturday, 7 March 2015  |

I have been using a WhisperLite for many years and rate the MSR stoves very highly. I want to 'go lighter' for the TGOC and finally chose the combination of a Micro Rocket with a 900ml Evernew pot which arrived very quickly and efficiently. The pot has a base which is not flat but has a convex, raised perimeter which coincides exactly with the tips of the Micro Ricket support arms, making it far too unstable for me. So.... change the pot or change the stove? After much thought, I am keeping the pot and returning the stove (thank you, Bob, for this). I will be buying a stove with a remote canister and wider arms with horizontal support surfaces, on which the Evernew pot will hopefully sit securely.

Micro stove

Small, light, does what it should, works well with the clip-on wind-shield. I can't say if it is 'better' than other similar screw-ins, but it is at least as good as the best of the rest, and with a (narrow) heat exchanger pot it has already proven to be very economical on gas. Good stove. Bob.
