Personally I find these small 'Bothys' extremely useful beyond their intended purpose. Yes during bad weather when your spirit is low, everything is wet and and there appears to be no respite from the battering you are getting they really do come into their own allowing you to 'hunker down' and gather your thoughts away from Mother Nature. However other uses I've had for them include;
With the weight and the bulk being so low, it certainly has a place in my pack. This is what the manufacturers say; The Integral SilBothy Emergency Shelter is so light that you'll have to double-check your pack to make sure it's there. When Mother Nature sneaks up on you and your companion, duck under this silicone-impregnated nylon ripstop shelter and plop down on waterproof seats to wait out the storm. A built-in stuff sack further helps save weight and add efficiency, and air vents help reduce condensation and provide air flow. Product Features

04 September 2014 | Thomas I always hike in high mountains. However during the winter and sometimes the windchill gets so bad I worry that I'll catch a flu. I think I'll use this to take a break from the chill to brew a coffee or take a short nap 1 of 3 people found this review helpful.
23 January 2014 | John Almost half the weight of the bothy bag I've been using in recent years, but still strong enough to take a bit of punishement in bad weather. Never leave home for a walk without it. 3 of 4 people found this review helpful.
