I have other quilts - early ones were just squares and lots of cussing as they slid off and let the draughts in. One I have is designed to 'do up' around the legs then spread over the body while the edge fits around the sleep mat more or less. This Thermarest one fits around/over the foot end of your sleep mat, then the whole thing sits under or around it with a sort of hanging baffle pretty much sealing you in. Options for fitting shock-cord underneath (I have used some BPL shock-cord and tiny 'biners to secure the waist and body-level cords and the toe end just slips under and sh0uld only come undone if you wriggle a lot!) and their own system of stick-on - to the underside of the mat - patches with short elastic loops to use with the stud-fastened tapes sewn into the edges of the quilt. The head end is lightly elasticated so you can just tuck it around your neck, or do up the simple stud fasteners and 'shrug it on' over head and around shoulders for snugger fit. End result (and there are other options for fitting and use too inc. just throwing it over in summer) is a fantastic quilt, tailored yet more adaptable than many, well made as you'd expect, and decent value for money. Shame it's not box-section, same on the 650fp down - why not 750 or 850? It could be 100gm lighter easily, and warmer, or whatever levels of weight and temperature in different models might be desirable. BUT - the down is hydrophobic (and this is a slightly older model and I don't think anyone was producing HPh down much above 650fp until very recently), the materials and construction are excellent with the DWR particularly effective. I feel this is a very good attempt to produce a quilt for everyone and all seasons (with extra kit in winter) at a pretty good weight - a bit heavier than stated weight, but only 50gm. 700gm for a 3 season sleep system can't be bad, and at sale price of about 150 of your best squid - brilliant, thanks BPL again. Just back from a weekend in the Brecons using the Corus quilt - what an excellent piece of kit. Went almost commando inside a thermalite liner doubling as a sheet; toastie!
