I had the original lime green Karrimor version of this pack from 25 years ago until it was stolen on Hogmanay 1999. I then bought the newer OMM version a few years later. The two versions are very similar bar the colour change. Over the years I have used them mainly as mountainbiking daypacks and they have both taken a fair amount of abuse including surviving several crashes. The OMM version has also been used for an attempt to run the West Highland Way, carrying a 1 man tent, Vango down sleeping bag, 3/4 length Thermarest, food and a 3ltr water bladder! I was also using the optional chest pocket which fits straight onto the shoulder straps. The pack coped far better than my body did. Although my new one is about 15 years old it is still going strong and showing no sign of wear and tear. It is still the pack I choose for anything other than an full on winter day with crampons and axe.
A great rucksack, very flexible for carrying with the ability to remove the sleeping mat. This means the rucksack can take up little space if you are packing it into travel luggage.Appears very good quality with good straps , clips and buckles.Comfortable to wear.
This weighs next to nothing, it's functional and it's well made. The hip pockets offer storage for the essentials like m and m's on the travel. The internal mat allows me to use a half roll mat for my upper torso and insulation for the legs. The elasticated pockets around the outside are welcome for storing wet garments on the go. It's both comfortable and well padded. It's not totally waterproof but if you can fit all your kit into it you would have paid the price to do so and usually protect it with drybags. Always liked the service from r and r backpacking. I often frequent the site for bargains and new releases. Thank you for the sweets and hand written notes it makes the experience more personal and welcoming.
