It has to be one of the most frustrating thing on the hills, to carry a cold metallic flask in your hand, which never holds 'enough', and weighs much more 'empty' than you want it to. Until now that is!

We have made a special order for a few boxes of these little beauties from the US, and are introducing them to the appreciative UK audience who have been looking for a solution to that particular problem.

Capacity 350ml, and it has 50ml markers on the side of the bottle. Which is useful for fairness of course!

The bottle is made up of three parts. A lightweight bottle and (standard Nalgene thread) screw cap weight 53g. A plastic 30ml shot glass, weight 8g and the thicker blue outer casing at 60g, to add extra protection should you need it.

BPA free too of course.

Of course, there's the obvious liquid use for this. However some people have suggested also using it for Meths, as it will store easier in the pack, yes we were horrified also!

This is Hydration at its hippest!

Specifications:

  • Contains 12 ounces (350 ml)
  • Features one-ounce (30ml) cap
  • Fits easily into bags and packs
  • Provides long-term storage solutions
  • Includes durable insulation sleeve
  • Prevents plastic taste and odor
  • BPA free

Weight: Bottle - 53g, Shot Glass - 8g, Cover - 60g = Total 121g

How does it compare to the Lexan Flask?
Capacity: Nalgene 12 fl oz - Lexan 10 fl oz
Weight: Nalgene 121g - Lexan 116g
Dimensions: Nalgene 200mm x 100mm - Lexan 180mm x 95mm

Main features:
Nalgene:
Bottle, cap, shot glass, insulating sleeve, 50ml measure markers - Clear, blue sleeve, blue cap
Lexan: Bottle and cap - Clear and black cap

Conclusion: They both sit very well in the hand and slide into the pack perfectly. Hard to make a choice apart from this one holding more ;-))

Best Flask for a serious backpack
Tuesday, 11 October 2016  |

I've had 2 of these for over 3 years, and even with abuse, they are in tip top condition. Very robust. Actually, very very robust. Mine have done some serious miles. If I could only buy one flask, this would be it.

Fabulous Flask

Well made and doesn't leak. Some thought gone into the design with a protective cover, separate cap and top. Chose the 12 fl oz version which would probably keep Gazza happy over a weekend!
Great service from backpackinglight!

Tidy, practical and very handy. It survived the festival and proved a very useful piece of kit on a glass-free site,

200-250 gram Weight saving!
Thursday, 8 May 2014  |

For the puritans where every ounce counts...

35cl (350ml) Glass bottle full of Famous Grouse = 650 grams
Hip flask (full of above Scotch) with sleeve = 450 grams
Hip flask (full of above Scotch) without sleeve = 400 grams

For a bottle that doesn't spoil the taste (I love all the Nalgene bottles) you get between 200-250 gram weight saving without having to worry about broken glass.

As I don't drink all of this myself, I can always lower the weight of my pack by getting my mate to put it in his bag
