We are active outdoors people and have been fortunate to be invited to get behind the scenes of many outdoor suppliers, manufacturers and key story makers in the industry.

In this blog we will update you with some of those stories, about people, products or places which you may find entertaining and add to your coffee break!

Christmas Free Gift

Tis’ the season of ‘you are so hard to buy for’ and here we all are again being asked for our ‘wish lists’ and frustrating our partners with indecision about our desires and objects of enjoyment for the outdoors.

We have had a very busy year and it is due to the numerous repeat customers we have, who faithfully support us and appreciate that being a small independent is no easy task. We try where we can to add a little ‘extra something’ to our promotional activities and this Christmas is no exception.

As a little ‘thank you’ to everyone who orders between now and 23rd December we are including a free gift with a value of between £9.99 and £22.99 with every order over £75.

November 2014 - Wild Foraging

Hasn’t it been a fantastic Autumn? The leaves have only recently started to change colour and shower us with their glory. Mushrooms and fungi seem in abundance but I haven’t seen many folk out foraging like they were for blackberries and sloes a few weeks ago.

There has been so much of late about “foraging” as if this is a new art! Yet many of us have always foraged. As a girl I was often sent out by my Grandma to fetch the field mushrooms. We all knew where to find them, the trick was to see who could find the largest! There was no fear we would pick the wrong ones and be poisoned as we always picked the same type,  however today we are much more cautious.

October 2014 - Wild Camping Challenge

It seems Wild Camping is the new experience everyone wants to try all of a sudden. However like all new experiences in our organised and controlled lives, the first question is all about the ‘rules’ and the second is about ‘safety’.

Although seasoned Wild Campers may think nothing of it, we were reminded recently by a close friend that there are many out there, for whom this activity is totally unfamiliar due to the ‘lack of rules’. She announced that it was something she would love to try as it was on her ‘bucket list’. So Rose offered to take her for a memorable night on The Black Mountain a week ago. Following their return Rose joined Bob during a walk to discuss this phenomenon, how her friend managed and what fears she mentioned during the experience.

Our Outdoor Show Spring 2014

Only 3 weeks to go before out big show and like all cunning plans, this one is coming together like a well oiled machine (just).

The campsite has started taking bookings, the grass has been cut and Bob is on his hands and knees finishing off the display room.

New products are here daily and the new Backpackinglight Sleeping Quilts should arrive by then.

So much going on I can't wait for the paint to dry!
